I.
PREAMBLE
A.
VENTURE OATH
As a
Venturer...
-
I promise to do my duty to God
and help strengthen America,
-
to help others,
-
and to seek truth,
fairness, and adventure in our world.
II. BY-LAWS
A.
OBJECTIVES
The
objectives of Venture Crew 73 are:
1. To
meet the needs and goals of the Crew members while remaining faithful to the
objectives of the Venture program.
2. To
follow the ideals of the Venture Oath.
3. To
ensure that both youth and adult members find the Venturing program to be
beneficial and enjoyable.
B.
MEMBERSHIP
-
Membership shall
be open to all young adults between the ages of 14 and 21. No
prospective member shall be disqualified because of race, color, creed
or sex. All members must be registered as Venturers and agree to the
Venture Oath and Crew bylaws.
C.
OFFICERS
-
The normal term of
office shall be for one year starting in September, with elections to be
held in August. No member shall serve more than two consecutive terms in
the same office. The president shall appoint a nominating committee of
three members. Each candidate will be interviewed, put on a ballot, and
campaign until the election.

PRESIDENT
Key
youth leader works closely with the Crew Advisor and the youth leadership
team to plan crew and crew officers meetings.
2.
ADMINISTRATIVE VICE PRESIDENT
Responsible for membership and recognition.
3.
PROGRAM VICE PRESIDENT
Surveys
members’ interest in program activities.
4.
SECRETARY
Keeps
records, takes minutes, and handles correspondence.
5.
TREASURER
Maintains dues and crew treasury.
6.
ACTIVITY CHAIRS
Shall be
appointed by the president, with the approval of the Advisor as needed.
D. CREW
BUSINESS
-
Crew business will
be conducted under the principles outlined in Robert’s Rules of Order.
Voting on all issues will be by a simple majority, with the exception of
changes to the bylaws, which will require a two-thirds vote of the
officers and participating membership. A quorum shall consist of one
more than the majority of members for votes on routine business.
E.
GENERAL MEETINGS
-
General meetings
will be held twice a month. The day will be decided by the membership at
the beginning of each school year.
F.
OFFICER’S MEETINGS
-
Officer’s meetings
will be held at least once a month, prior to the first crew meeting of
the next month, or in conjunction with a crew meeting.
G.
NEWSLETTER
-
The crew will
publish a newsletter every other month, which shall include all meeting
dates and other information of interest to the membership. The
newsletter will serve as the historical record of the crew. This will
also be e-mailed to all members with the ability to receive it. This is
a good job for the secretary but doesn’t have to be so.
